Claveles del Aire (2021)

The film portrays the return to home and encounter with lost memories. Claveles del Aire explores the possibilities of filmmaking to put pieces together through the editing process. Researching different perspectives on the filmmaker’s childhood home, interviews with their mother and sister reveal complex family dynamics and different layers of what it is to be a woman in Chile.

Sissel Marie Tonn – Plastic Hypersea (2021)

Video commission for Sonic Acts Festival in Amsterdam.

Plastic Hypersea is an interactive, site-specific work that speculates on a possible future for the field of immunology in which it has merged with the field of Environmental Health. As the listener explores the terrain they are invited to imagine the environment as an extension of their immune system and to contemplate the many ways in which their bodies are entangled with microplastics in the sediments of Amsterdam’s waterways.

Drawing inspiration from Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon, the collaborative video explores the virtual world of GTA 5, where a digital entity embarks on a journey of self-discovery through the reflection of their shadow, offering a unique narrative of connection and personal growth within the digital landscape.

Using conversations held during the course of a month between Philadelphia and New York, this short documentary film is an invitation to enter the dynamics of intimacy between two sisters. Approaching subjects such as family, sexuality, and expectations, it aims to gather our individual experiences as siblings and align them in a linear form of storytelling.
