SONRÍA (2018)

“Sonría” is an installation piece created over the course of one week for the Transmediaworkshop by Mónica Allende. The Group exhibition was collectively called “Byeparaiso”, and it was displayed in Sala Valparaíso, Valparaíso.

The piece is a reflection on surveillance culture, applied to the context of Valparaíso. The installation consists of a TV displaying VHS videos of Disney movies, with a small poster over it with the following text: “Smile! We are recording you.”. The phrase, which you often see in small stores around the city, warns the viewer about a surveillance camera on top that recorded the scene.
